We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our team here at Allied Universal, in the role of Test Development Engineer. If you are an experienced Test Development Engineer who enjoys a varied workload, being hands on and getting stuck in, in a fast-paced environment this role could be for you.

Role Outline

Responsible for designing and commissioning test fixtures for new and existing Allied Universal Electronic Monitoring products.

Contributing to all aspects of test fixture development, installation, commissioning and fault finding of test fixtures used for production testing, and field returned products.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Design and commission test fixtures for printed circuit board assemblies and final products.
  • Ability to understand electronic schematics and translate into test requirements.
  • Ability to understand embedded firmware, and test development requirements.
  • Hands-on approach to building manual and automated test fixtures, and developing end-to-end test software solutions.
  • Work closely with developers, QA engineers, and project managers to ensure alignment on testing strategies and priorities.
  • Programming in C# for PC based test sequences.
  • Interfacing with SQL databases to record test results.

  • Electronics.
  • Excellent technical documentation skills for creating test plans, procedures, and reports.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a meticulous approach to troubleshooting.

Skills and Knowledge

 Essential

  • BEng/MEng in Electronics, Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • Experience in designing, developing, and maintaining Automated Test Equipment (ATE) for electronic hardware.
  • Solid understanding of electronic circuits and products (analog and digital) and familiarity with standard laboratory instrumentation (e.g., Oscilloscopes, GNSS Emulators, Spectrum Analysers).
  • Proficiency in test automation scripting and software development (e.g., C#, Python, C/C++, or LabVIEW).

Desirable

  • Understanding embedded firmware written in C#.
  • Electronic Design using Altium
  • Experience in integrating hardware and software to deliver comprehensive test solutions for manufacturing or R&D environments.
  • Mechanical design using SolidWorks.
  • Source control using Bit bucket.
  • Ability to travel internationally.
  • Experience in developing tests using JTAG
