G4S Secure Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Senior Fire Systems Commissioning & Service Engineer to play a critical role in our operations. In this role, you will ensure that life safety and fire protection systems are flawlessly installed, programmed, and maintained. This position combines high-level technical commissioning, emergency service response, and client-facing advisory work to guarantee full compliance with national standards.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Commissioning & Maintenance
  • System Commissioning: Program, test, and commission fire detection, alarm, and suppression systems to exact customer specifications.
  • Service & Maintenance: Execute routine servicing and reactive maintenance for fire systems and emergency lighting in strict accordance with IS 3218 and IS 3217 standards.
  • Emergency Response: Participate in the on-call rota to respond promptly to emergency activations and urgent service desk escalations.
  • Asset Management: Maintain all assigned G4S property, vehicles, stock, test equipment, and tools in excellent working order.

Commercial & Administrative Execution
  • Digital Reporting: Accurately utilize PDA systems to log data, close out jobs instantly for rapid customer invoicing, and issue compliance certification.
  • Management Reporting: Deliver comprehensive activity reports to assist leadership with strategic and operational planning.
  • Leadership Support: Act as the designated deputy for the Line Manager on key operational matters when required.

Client Support & Brand Advocacy
  • Technical Advisory: Support the sales team during on-site inspections by providing technical expertise to accurately specify customer needs.
  • Customer Care: Resolve client queries courteously, maintain positive relationships, and proudly promote the G4S brand.
  • Continuous Learning: Attend product training to maintain elite knowledge of the G4S product range and evolving industry regulations.

About You
Requirements (Essential)
  • Experience: 3+ years in a dedicated fire engineering role with a proven track record of managing and commissioning large-scale projects with complex programming strategies.
  • System Expertise: In-depth knowledge of conventional and addressable fire alarms, major manufacturer brands, air sampling (aspirating) systems, and graphics software packages.
  • Specialist Systems: Practical experience with standard/complex gas suppression, disabled refuge, and PA/VA systems.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of current Irish fire industry standards (IS 3218 / IS 3217).
  • Core Skills: Exceptional problem-solving, planning, and organization skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Interpersonal: Strong communication skills with a customer-focused, collaborative team approach.
  • Licence: Full, clean driving licence.

Preferences (Desirable)
  • An electrical or electro-technical background is a distinct advantage.
